WHAT IS LIKE TO BE A PSYCHOLOGY GRADUATE OUT IN THE REAL WORLD?

It freaking sucks.

You feel lonely.

At first you felt like a caterpillar in your uni years and approaching the final semester you are a cocoon and finally a butterfly ready to spread its wings.

But, imagine, you are the only butterfly among the caterpillars and now you wish that you'd rather be a caterpillar among all caterpillars.

That's how i feel, metaphorically.

The job market for psychology majors are really limited edition. There's not a lot of jobs that is specifically designed for psychology. I believe you count with own bare hands. And if there were any jobs, you need more qualifications because your first class honours degree is just a piece of paper.

Then, there's the other case where people around don't know about psychology but they think they own about it.

People believe what they want to believe. People rather turn to the interesting and sensational information rather than listen to you. Things like the EMOwave, (read everything about you by you just TALKING TO A MICROPHONE FOR FIVE FREAKING MINUTES), EMOpill, (a product claiming it can cure addiction)

What does it feel like?

The blind following the blind'
'Menegak kan benang yang basah'
'tak tahu tapi buat buat tahu semua'

Seriously frustrated dgn orang orang mcm ni lagi lagi orang yang percaya, amal dan mengajar org lain pop psychology /pseudopsychology.
Aku tak lah pandai mana, ada degree sekeping sahaja tapi syukur alhamdulillah, thanks to my lecturers who taught me well, I have a strong foundation in psychology.
But, you don't. You tak study pun so you don't know what you are talking about while actually disregarding a person who knows about it.
Kalau kita pergi doktor, doktor ckp kita skit buah pinggang. Adakah kita ckp kt doktor tu no, I rasa I sakit kaki la bukan buah pinggang?
Of course tak sebab kita tahu doktor tu lebih tahu dari kita and kita dengar nasihat doctor tu.
Sama la mcm kita tahu orang tu pandai masak ke, pandai jahit, pandai business, adakah kita berlagak lebih pandai dari dea walaupun kita tahu kita tak belajar pun.
Orang ingat psychology ni senang. Ala baca buku je lepastu faham. Big NO!
At the end of the day, my husband says dea dah percaya benda ni lama, so slowly but surely kita ubah .
And aku terfikir betapa susahnya tugas nabi Muhammad untuk betulkan pemikiran arab quraisy sampai bertahun bertahun! ðŸ˜

I change my mind. I want to pursue my masters and PhD in Psychology
